World Environment Day (Thursday) was established by UN General Assembly in 1972. [1] Wednesday is hosted every year in different cities and warnings with international exposition through the week on June 5th. United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), also made in 1972, using a Wednesday to encourage environmental awareness and enhance political attention and public action.
"Stockholm was without doubt a landmark event in the development of international environmentalism," John McCormick wrote in the book Reclaiming Paradise. "That was the first time in the political, social, economic and global environment issues discussed at an inter-governmental forum with the intent to actually take corrective action."
