Carbon Dioxide Emissions

JAKARTA - The government's commitment of reducing emissions by 26 percent or 41 percent of emissions if international assistance in 2020 did not enter a work program for the Environment Ministry. In a meeting with Commission VII of the House, Monday (18.1.2010), Minister of Environment Gusti Muhammad Hatta did not mention it. Work program that he delivered votes for granted.

"Efforts to decrease emissions 26 percent were not in the delivery of Program 100 days, 1 year and 5 year," said a member of the House of Representatives Commission VII, Ismayati, in a working meeting which was attended by dozens of officials of Ministry of Environment.

According Ismayati, the program 26 percent emission reduction is very important. This was related to the government's commitment to international express and so are not considered true that the victimization of the public.

Vice Chairman of Commission VII of DPR Farial Achmad said, emissions reduction program for 26 per cent is not clear. Supposedly, this ministry is able to describe the program, for example by calculating the contribution of each local government to reduce emissions in each region.

Gusti on that occasion delivered a written program of work as much as 14 pages.

He stated, 100 Day Program successfully implemented. In the program there are two agendas, the preparation of documents for Indonesia's position on the UN Climate Change Conference 2009 and the establishment of forest fire prevention mechanisms.
